THE SUPERNOVA CAROL

HARK! the stars this morn are
singing!
Heaven itself with joy is ringing!
Light the darkness is defying:
Life for all; and Life through dying!
See! the Star all stars
outshining!
Mystery of God's designing,
Dying Star, no sadness boding:
Star of Love, with Life exploding!
Starlight, stardust, gift of
living!
Star and Saviour, by self-giving
Death and doubt no more's deceiving;
Light is Life for our receiving!
Christmas sign of God's
anointing,
See the Star to Jesus pointing!
Hark! divinest Christmas Story:
Death is but the Gate of Glory!
Follow all! Come, join
the seeking!
Stars by dying, life are speaking;
Hark! The Sky on high is ringing!
God is Love! the stars are singing!
The last verse can be used as a repeating chorus, if desired. Metre: 8888 Trochaic. Copyright Eric Jennings Christmas 1998,
When a massive star ends its life in an enormous explosion, it outshines, as a Supernova, every other star in the heavens, and scatters into space the very elements required for the creation of life in the universe. He to whom a bright star guided the wise men, was himself also to scatter, by his dying, the light of eternal life through all the world. This is the theme of the Supernova Carol.
